BUEN SABOR’S CHICKPEA & SWEET POTATO PICADILLO EARNS NON- GMO PROJECT VERIFICATION

BuenSaborVerification represents company’s commitment to sourcing only top quality and safe ingredients

Newburyport, MA – November 20, 2014 – Buen Sabor today announced that its Chickpea and Sweet Potato Picadillo (PICADILLO DE GARBANZOS Y CAMOTE) has received Non-GMO Project Verified status through the Non-GMO Project. After rigorous evaluation and testing, this seal confirms that each of the ingredients included in the dish are non-GMO (not a genetically modified organism). With more than half of American’s preferring non-GMO foods, this verification is a major milestone for Buen Sabor.

“Providing consumers with real, clean food is at the core of our mission,” said Sarah Pike, Founder and CEO, Buen Sabor. “This verification is just one more point of validation for our efforts, and we look forward to earning the Non-GMO Project Verified seal for each of our products.”

In order to achieve verification, products and ingredients are subjected to rigorous evaluation and testing to ensure they meet the Non-GMO Project Standard.

“We are excited to be working with Buen Sabor as they announce that its Chickpea and Sweet Potato Picadillo will now carry the Non-GMO Project Verified seal,” stated Megan Westgate, Executive Director, Non-GMO Project. “When shoppers see this mark on a product, they can trust it’s been made in compliance with the best possible practices for GMO avoidance.”

Tremendous time and effort goes into selecting the best ingredients that Buen Sabor uses to cook up its dishes, as well as the partners that help supply them. Only the cleanest, all-natural ingredients with a clear ‘story’ are considered. Through its Taste Trace™program, Buen Sabor believes it can serve as the connection between responsible food suppliers and farmers and the retail shelf. Buen Sabor encourages consumers to visit www.Buen-Sabor.com/TasteTrace to learn exactly where many of their key ingredients come from.

Buen Sabor is working toward eventually achieving Non-GMO Project Verification for all of its products and expects its Beef Picadillo Empanadas, which use grass fed and finished beef from the Pacific Northwest, to be next in line.
