Doylestown Fresh products are now Non-GMO Project Verified
DOYLESTOWN, PA (September 24, 2014) – VEG-E Systems is proud to announce that it’s local products, Doylestown Fresh’s Fresh Mix and Red Butter, are now Non-GMO Project Verified.
“The Non-GMO Project Verification is a perfect example of our dedication to growing the healthiest greens we can,” said Dennis Riling, founder of VEG-E Systems. “Our customers have the right to know what’s in their food, which is why we are voluntarily participating in the Non-GMO Project Verification.”
Around the world, more than 60 countries restrict, ban, or require labeling for GMO products. Currently, GMO foods are not required to be tested in the United States, and may have potential health risks.
A GMO (genetically modified organism) is an organism from a plant or animal that has been genetically engineered. DNA from one type of plant or animal is inserted into a different type in hopes of gaining beneficial properties, such as resistance to pests or reduced need for water.
Other Doylestown Fresh products, such as basil, are in the process of becoming Non-GMO Project Verified.
