Barefoot & Chocolate Announce Non-GMO Project Verified Chocolate
Barefoot & Chocolate, a Connecticut-based company obsessed with crafting lip-smacking, Fair Trade chocolate spreads is pleased to announce that it has received the official Non-GMO Project Verification for both its current flavors: Hazelnut & Almond–Coconut.
“We believe that people have the fundamental right to know what is in their food, so they can make informed choices. Obtaining the Non-GMO Project Verification reaffirms our commitment to creating products with integrity”, said Trent Lewis, co-founder at Barefoot & Chocolate.
The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization offering North America’s only third party Verification and labeling for non-GMO (genetically modified organism) food and products. Securing Verified status confirms Barefoot & Chocolate’s products are produced in compliance with the Non-GMO Project Standard, meaning that ongoing testing of all GMO risk ingredients, facility inspections and an annual audit take place to ensure that the company is meeting the highest possible standards for GMO avoidance.
Available in stores this summer will be their newest and first vegan flavor, Dark Chocolate Almond with Sea Salt as well as single-serve squeeze packs of the existing flavors. Barefoot & Chocolate is actively working with the Non-GMO Project to obtain verification for its newest products.
