CEDAR’S MEDITERRANEAN FOODS, INC.’S HOMMUS ACHIEVES NON-GMO VERIFICATION
September 2012, Ward Hill, Mass., — Cedar’s Mediterranean Foods, Inc., one of the original manufacturers of Mediterranean cuisine such as all natural hommus, pita chips, fresh salads, and tzatziki, has received Non-GMO Project Verification for its full line of Hommus. Through this verification, Cedar’s is setting a new standard in the hommus industry.
The Non-GMO Project is “…committed to preserving and building sources of non-GMO products, educating consumers, and providing verified non-GMO choices.” The organization believes “…that everyone deserves an informed choice about whether or not to consume genetically modified organisms.”
Cedar’s Mediterranean Foods, Inc. was established in 1981 and has been a leader in the Mediterranean food industry for over 25 years. Its authenticity and expertise has allowed the company to nationally expand and flourish. As one of the only major hommus manufacturers still privately owned, Cedar’s continually introduces new products and flavor profiles to help keep the industry fresh and consumers satisfied. Throughout its success, Cedar’s has focused on promoting healthy lifestyles through great tasting Mediterranean foods.
Upon the establishment of Cedar’s newly built 100,000 square-foot manufacturing facility located in Ward Hill, MA, Cedar’s has expanded from the grocery stores of New England to grocery stores throughout the United States.
Recently, Cedar’s has welcomed the shift in the industry from manufacturer driven to consumer driven, and has made an initiative to listen to what is important to consumers. To the company, this translates to clean, all natural products created with no genetically modified organisms. Cedar’s shares these values with consumers, and is communicating it through creating products with all natural ingredients. Cedar’s Hommus is also Gluten Free Certified. The company found it of great importance to become Non-GMO Verified and to communicate to consumers that Cedar’s is committed to provide them with food products that meet the Non-GMO standard.
Beginning in October 2012, Cedar’s is delighted to announce the Non-GMO Verified seal will be proudly displayed on the label of each Cedar’s package of Hommus.
